Tony Lain, aka “T. Lain”, has fishing in his DNA. Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he comes from the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” and a family that fishes. From the time that he could walk, T. Lain has been fishing for pan fish, catfish and bass. His family moved to San Diego, California when T. Lain was a kid, but he continued to go fishing with his grandfather, uncles and any neighbor who would let him tag along.
T. Lain got into serious bass fishing as a teenager, thanks to his older cousin Stan Hendrix, who owned a small aluminum bass boat and fished in local club tournaments. At age 13, T. Lain earned money by doing yard work in his neighborhood, working a paper route and selling catfish and bluegill at any neighbor who wanted to buy fresh fish. At age 14, after watching a popular fishing TV show, T. Lain spent his entire savings and bought a fishing float tube. In 1979, it was common knowledge that T. Lain was one of the first anglers to own a float tube in San Diego County. Flipping stick in hand, float tube around his belly, T. Lain developed quite the reputation for catching giant bass. The rest is history!
T. Lain fished more and more club, local team events, and regional pro/am events and became a regular at the top of the standings. T. Lain turned pro in 2003. He continues to support his local team circuits and fishes professional tournaments with ABA Lucas Oil, Anglers Choice, FLW National Guard – Everstart, US BASS, and WON BASS pro/am events including the California Open and United States Open.
T. Lain is employed full time with the California Department of Justice, Attorney General’s Office as a commander/supervisor. T. Lain has law enforcement expertise in major narcotics, methamphetamine labs, violent gangs, illegal weapons, raid planning, and specialized surveillance. T. Lain is very close to retiring from his career in law enforcement and after retirement plans to go on tour with the BASS Elites and FLW Tour. T. Lain is passionate about the sport of bass fishing and enjoys introducing new anglers to our sport. He is a very successful “weekend warrior” and has a reputation as an excellent promoter and spokesman for his sponsors. T. Lain conducts fishing and boating seminars, demonstrations, assists in sales and advertising for his sponsors.
